Codigy groups all contributors into following categories:
Developers who contributed over 40% lines of code in the past 6 months.
Owners help maintain order and reduce the number of potential issues. Files without an owner carry a higher risk for refactoring or new feature development.
Developers with good knowledge of the file. They contributed about 20% - 40% lines of code in the past 6 months.
Having 1-2 significant contributors in the file improves bus factor as such contributors can replace the owner in extreme circumstances.
Developers with some knowledge of the file. They contributed about 5% - 20% lines of code in the past 6 months.
Such contributors don’t improve the bus factor but can bring disorder and defects in the file if there are too many of them.
Developers with very little knowledge of the file. They contributed less than 5% lines of code in the past 6 months.
With the exception of some edge cases, they increase disorder and number of defects in the file.
